Mrs Ali and Mrs Rahman will work with all three classes to support children throughout Year 6 and in the build up to the SATs tests in May.

If you have any questions do not hesitate to speak to any of the class teachers who are available on the Year 6 doors in the morning and at the end of the day.

Macbeth

The children in Year 6 have been learning all about the play Macbeth as part of their topic work. They had a fantastic performance from the Young Shakespeare Company, which the children really enjoyed. They then read the story as part of their reading work and completed a newspaper report about the ghastly murder of King Duncan.

Black History Month

For BHM the children learnt all about Mo Farah: how he came to the UK; how he excelled in athletics; how even though he had set backs he persevered and became Britain’s greatest track athlete.

Remembrance Day

The children learnt all about the importance of Remembrance Day. The history of the poppy, John McCrae’s poem ‘In Flanders Field’, and why the British Legion starts selling poppies. Click the link at the bottom of the page to view.

Shakespeare

The children in class 6B have a fantastic opportunity to become tour guides at Shakespeare Birthplace Trust in Stratford-Upon-Avon. The children will be visiting Stratford on the 31st of January to be trained by the fantastic volunteers on how to become tour guides. The following Wednesday (7th February) the children will be tour guides for two Year 5 classes (5H and 5D) as well as for members of the general public. This is a great opportunity for the children to work on their presenting and conversational skills.

Homework

Children in Year 6 are required to complete 2 quizzes on readtheory.org every night to improve their reading comprehension skills. These quizzes should not take more than 15 minutes to complete.

Children have been given mathematical facts to learn at home and will continue to be given other facts in the run up to SATs tests in May.
