SS Great Britain and The Clifton Suspension Bridge trips

We had 4 fantastic trips to Bristol in October. These trips related to our Victorian Britain topic, which is part of the year 5 history curriculum.

 

The children and staff visited SS Great Britain and The Clifton Suspension Bridge. The children received a guided tour of the famous ship, built by the famed Victorian engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. In the afternoon the children took a short drive to visit the Clifton Suspension Bridge and admired the unique Victorian bridge, also built by Brunel.

This experience helped the children write a biography about Brunel's life. It was a great opportunity to learn about his life in this famous city.
