Speech and Language Base open day

We have had a fabulous day celebrating the 90th birthday of Queen Elizabeth II. This morning, SL1 baked oat cakes and finished our beautiful portraits of the Queen. Then we all enjoyed a picnic in the playground, followed by party games in our classroom. We joined KS2 for a live broadcast by Discovery Education from Windsor Castle.

Our sunflowers grew so well and then ...a cheeky squirrel ate a flower head!

Maths outside - a BIG Number Line!

Harvesting and cooking - yum :) We loved picking what we had planted. Then we used the raspberries to make cakes for our End of Year Celebrations and the carrots in our snack time.

We had such a fantastic time last Thursday. The weather was wonderful and the park looked absolutely beautiful. The older children and younger children mixed well together - encouraging each other, playing together, eating together, laughing together. We saw many take on challenges they had not tried before and achieve some marvellous things. All the children behaved so well and were a credit to the School. We arrived back at the Base tired and sore-footed from the warmth of the sun and the walk but glad of the great memories we had of our day out.

Trip to Handsworth Park 9th July 2015 - both SL1 and SL2

Here are some photos of our recent visit to Cannock Chase Museum. The children had an amazing day with Mark, one of their regular Guides. It was great that they could actually see and handle some of the things that we have been talking about in their World War II Literacy and History topic this term. Hearing the Air Raid Siren and acting out going into an air-raid shelter certainly made some of the anxious feelings come to the surface. They began to realise some of the horrifying realities of the War - that we hope they will never have to experience for real!

Our Yr 1 children have been to Dudley Zoo with 1S. They saw lots of animals and had a great day!

Here are some pictures.

Our Yr 2 children went to Lickey Hills on 29th September with 2K.  They walked through woodland collecting leaves and twigs and built homes for creatures. They had an amazing day in the 'dark dark woodlands'.
