Speech and Language

The staff in Speech & Language Resource Base would like to welcome back all of the children. They have settled in really well are ready to learn.

All children from our Resource Base will have swimming lesson on Thursdays and PE lessons on Mondays or Tuesdays.

We are excited that all children will have Tabla lessons (a pair of Indian drums).  It will help children to increase their body awareness, develop kinesthetic skills, coordination and self-control. Playing rhythms also improves listening skills and increases the children’s ability to focus for extended periods of time. We are sure that children will enjoy learning this new skill.

 

What we will be learning this term

English: We will be reading ‘Street Child’ Novel. The children will bring a lot of reading material home to read.

 

Maths: We will be looking at numbers to 10,000 and the place value of 4 digit numbers and understanding thousands, hundreds, tens and ones.

WE will be consolidating four mathematical operations; addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.

We will learn the 3, 4, and 6 times tables in addition to 2, 5, 10 and 11.

 

History: We will be learning about Queen Victoria and The Victorians.

 

 

We in class SL2 are working hard in this term.

In English, we are reading poetry and the children will be writing their own short poems.

The Home-School Book is  Ottoline and the Yellow Cat. All children have a copy of a the book which they read at school and then at home. The children get homework which they do independently.

In Maths, the children are learning times tables to 12.

We are learning about fractions at the moment.

In Geography, we are learning about Water and Rivers. The children will carry out river studies and write a report about their findings. 

We will be Visiting River Cole at Sarehole Mill on 12th June 2019 and River Severn at Bewdley on 20th June 2019. The children are looking forward to these trips.

 

The children are continuing with swimming and Tabla lessons this term.

 

 

Practical Maths in SL1

The children from Anglesey Resource Base  has been on a Residential Visit to Brighouse Atherstone on 26th-27th November 2018. The children had lots of fun and learned some new skills.
