Providing a creative, challenging and inspiring curriculum for all. Equiping our children with the skills to be happy, flourish and be successful...Today, tomorrow and in the future

Nursery

The children in Nursery celebrated Eid. They were able to talk about how they had celebrated Eid with their families and came into school wearing their special Eid clothes. All of the children had a great time choosing a Mehndi design to have painted on their hands. They had lots of fun Bhangra dancing and enjoyed making a mint, cucumber and spring onion, yoghurt dip to go with their poppadoms. The children even cut the ingredients themselves.

Summer Term

This term is a very busy one for nursery as we learn lots of new things in preparation for starting Reception.

The children will be learning their first Letters and Sounds:                 S, A, T, P, I, N. We have a sound of the week which the children will learn to recogonise, say correctly, hear in words and write. It would be great if you could support this at home.

During this term we will also be learning about different occupations. Maybe you could talk to your children about the job you or your family do and when you are out with your children at the shops you could talk to them about the people that work there. What does your child want to be when they are older?

Summer term also means that the season is changing again and we will be planting lots of different types of vegetables. When you are out with your children in the park or at home in the garden, maybe you could talk about the new flowers and insects that are starting to appear. What do the plants and flowers need to grow? Where do all the bugs live?

After our Whitsun holiday we will be learning about and celebrating Eid. The children will be encouraged to talk to their friends about how they celebrated Eid as a Family. It would be great if the children could bring in something from the celebration e.g. a new toy, special clothes that they wore etc.

Towards the end of the Summer term we will also be spending time in Reception in preparation for the children starting school.

World Book Day

The children have had a great time today dressing up for World Book Day. We have had lots of characters and they have all shared their favourite characters with their friends.

Our story this half term has been 'Goldilocks and the Three Bears' which has been acted out by their Teachers. It would be great if you could read the story to them at home or maybe even their favourite story at bedtime.

Happy New Year and welcome to the first term of 2019

We hope you all had a great holiday

The nursery celebrated Christmas at the end of last term with lots of Christmas activities such as card making, writing and sharing and also a big end of term party with a visit from Santa himself.

The children really enjoyed the games, dancing, dressing up and meeting Father Christmas and of course all the gifts he brought with him

We would like to thank all of you for your kind gifts and cards as well.

This term we are looking at a general topic of Our  Heroes which will include toys. We will be asking the children to bring in their favourite toy, talking about it, taking a photograph and then writing about it to make a book. This will support with communication and literacy and will be build on from the children's interests.

We will also be continuing with our Sound Tots sessions to support speaking, listening and music.

Please be aware that the closing date for reception applications is 15th January, so if you have still not completed your application and need support please talk to someone in the nursery urgently.
If you have any issues or questions please   contact us directly on 0121 464 4385 or come in and speak to us.

Welcome to the second half of the autumn term

All of the children are settled into nursery now and we would like to thank parents for their on going support  during this time of transition.

The topic for the next half term is "Dinosaurs " as the children are really interested in them and adding them to their play. We will be planning  many activities around this and also stimulating new play ideas in the form of our local role plays both inside and outside the classroom.

We will be visiting the local bakery and garage in small groups and coming back to to set up these areas within our classrooms. We will notify you when your child will be going out and posting pictures shortly.

We are fortunate to have been offered sessions from Sound Tots where trained musicians come in to sing and support the children with music and language. This will be ongoing over a twenty week period.

We will also be sending home books to share together once a week. Please  keep these books for one week and return them on your allocated day in order to choose a new one.

Even though it is winter it is really important  that the children continue to fully use the outside classroom as so much learning takes place there. We go out in all weathers but ensure that the children are always suitably dressed.

We are also  running workshops on the 20th and 23rd of November to support parents  with their online application for a reception place.

If you have any issues please come in and see us or call direct on 0121 464 4385.

Welcome to the new academic year 2018/19

It is the exciting start to another new year and we would like to welcome all the new children and parents. We would also like to welcome Laura Noakes and Karen De Costa to the nursery team.

This half term we will be admitting the new children. The start dates are staggered  to enable children to settle in calmly with their key worker and have the best possible start. We value your support during this time which can be both an exciting and challenging experience  for very young children.

Our topic this half term will be Settling In and as usual we will be planning activities around the children's interests. We will also  be completing our on entry  baseline assessments in order to plan appropriate next steps for your child. We will be sharing this information with you in order for you to support with these skills. The best results are always achieved when school and home work together.

During the term we will be placing photos of nursery activities and additional information on this site so please do check in regularly. Alternatively if you require any further information come in and speak to us or call on 0121 464 4385 to reach the nursery directly.
