Subtraction within 10
This week we are learning about subtraction within 10.
‘Subtraction’ is the mathematical/posh term for ‘taking away’ and it can also be called ‘minus’.
Today we are going to be learning about subtraction number problems with bears.
Please watch and listen to Miss Bradbury’s video below and join in with the activities.
For today’s activities you will need some paper and a pencil/pen so that you can have a go at writing the number sentences for the spoken number problems.

Today we are going to be using our ‘more and ‘fewer’ vocabulary but we are also going to be learning new vocabulary: the ‘same’.
This will be explained at the start of the video!
Watch and listen carefully to the video below and join in the activities.
As a follow up activity- you could look around you at groups of objects and use sentences where you say which has ‘more’, which has ‘fewer’ and which has ‘the same’.
For example: I have more teeth and fewer lips.
I have the same amount of fingers and toes!

Recapping numbers 1-10.
This week we have been learning about the numbers 9 and 10.
Work through the videos below to explore the number skills that you have learnt.
For an extra activity you can practice writing your numbers 1-10 by using the ‘writing numbers formation rhymes’ video to help you.

Do them in this order:

-counting scenes to 10

This week we are learning about the numbers 9 and 10.
I wonder if you can recognise them?
Work through the ‘can you recognise the number 1-10’ video below and say the name of the number that you see.
It would be even better if you could show that number of your fingers too for each number!
For the main activity you will need some pieces of paper and a pen or pencil/drawing tools. Remember to pick something easy to draw like lollipops, or circles, or triangles, and draw them in a straight line.
Here is an example:
If you are running your own lesson using the powerpoint below, after the picture (showing the drawing of simple objects) say the number shown and draw the correct number of objects for that number.
