Your activity from White Rose maths is based around reading timetables. People need to read timetables all the time in daily life. It might be when waiting for a bus or a train or when reading the opening and closing times for a shop. You will even need to read a timetable each day at secondary school when moving between lessons and classrooms.

 

Please click on the link below for the video of the lesson. White Rose include tasks within their videos. You will need either a pen or pencil and a piece of paper for the tasks that are set.

 

There is a set of activities saved below which set out a series of questions related to reading and using timetables.

One of the songs you will already know from your lessons in class, it is called 'They're all prime.' The full song and lyrics are included in the video with Dave Godfey, who is the creator of Number Fun. This is a great way to start your lessons off.

The square number video focuses on the song 'Square number bashing'. The full song and lyrics are included in the video with Dave Godfey, who is the creator of Number Fun. This is another great way to start your lessons off.

Also click on the White Rose link which will take you to the videos that you need to watch. The videos include tasks based around statistics, so there is no need to print out any work.

They all relate to rounding to the nearest 1000, 10000 and 100000. They involve numbers up to 1,000,000.

 

There are videos saved in the White Rose work that you can access to help you with rounding. There are also a couple of videos saved below to revise column addition and subtraction. If you head to the White Rose section for year 5 home learning you will also find place value videos that will help you to add and subtract in the column.
