Child Initiated Activity 1

Activity 1: Hide and Seek Toys

Objectives: (1) To give directions using the language of ‘forwards’, ‘backwards’ and prepositions (e.g. ‘under’, ‘on top’, ‘behind’ and ‘next to’); (2) To follow instructions

 

Hide a favourite toy somewhere in the house and help your child to find it by giving simple step by step instructions.

Once your child has got the hang of it, perhaps they could hide the toy for you to find, giving instructions to help you find it.

 

As an extension activity, maybe they could draw and label a map to show where the toy is hidden.
