COVID-19 Parent Support

Information about Isolation if someone in the household has tested positive for Covid

The following information is taken directly from a Public Health webinar with Dr Justin Varney: Director of Public Health, Birmingham City Council. (06.01.22)

If someone in your household has tested positive and your child is 5 years old or over, they should come into school. The child should do daily lateral flow tests.

If someone in your household has tested positive and your child is under 5, then they should stay at home with the person who has tested positive until the isolation period is over.

Dear Parent, please see letter below from Mr Doddridge.
Please see the guide below to help support your child's wellbeing in lockdown.

“Today is the first day of the new regional Tier restrictions, with Birmingham now in Tier 3: Very High Alert.

The new rules entail a few changes, some of which allow greater freedom, such as the ability to visit what were 'non-essential' shops, while others will remain the same, such as the general closure of hospitality venues.

Please familiarise yourself with the current Tier 3 restrictions by going to - https://www.gov.uk/guidance/tier-3-very-high-alert”

Asthma and Covid-19

Dear parents,

If your child has a cold, runny nose or similar symptoms, they CAN BE IN SCHOOL. Just send them into school with tissues and remind them to wash hands regularly.

Dear parents,

If your child has any of the symptoms of COVID-19 please read!

The main symptoms of coronavirus (COVID-19) are:

  • a high temperature
  • a new, continuous cough
  • a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste.

a high temperature – this means you feel hot to touch on your chest or back (you do not need to measure your temperature)

a new, continuous cough – this means coughing a lot for more than an hour, or 3 or more coughing episodes in 24 hours (if you usually have a cough, it may be worse than usual)

a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste – this means you've noticed you cannot smell or taste anything, or things smell or taste different to normal

To protect others, do not go to places like a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital if you have any of these symptoms. Get a test to check if you have coronavirus and stay at home until you get your result.

You must let the school know if your test is positive or negative.

For an online test click the link below:

You can also ring 119 to ask for a test.
There is a 'drop-in' testing centre next to the school on Nursery Road.

Dear Parent

Please see letter below for details of Parents Appointments.

Dear parents/carers,

If you rang or emailed the school to request a place from the 15th June, you will receive a letter in the post soon.
If you missed the deadline, or haven’t contacted the school via email or the office, then unfortunately you still won’t be able to bring your child into school for now.

We are all waiting for the time when school can get back to normal.

For now, stay safe and keep going with the home learning.

Dear Parents/Carers,

You will have received a text from school asking you to email the school by Tuesday 2nd June, if you want your Reception, Year 1  or Year 6 child to be considered for a place when we reopen for more pupils.

Please let us know by this date. Don't turn up at school, unless we have contacted you.

Thank you

Dear Parent,

we hope you are keeping well.  Please click the link below to read a letter from our Chair of Governors around a potential re-opening.

We hope you are all keeping well and safe at home. You will have probably already received a phone call from your child’s class teacher or a member of the SLT to see if there is anything we can do for you and just to check in on you and your family.

It’s lovely to speak to you and the children and we miss you all very much.

Teachers will try to phone you every 2 weeks, but you can always email any questions you may have to your child’s year group email.

E.G. If they are in Y6, the email is y6@anglesey.bham.sch.uk

Stay safe, we will see you again soon.

Please click on one of the links below for ways to support you and your children during this time.  The Welfare section contains information around support you can access such as food banks and advice lines.  The Home Learning section contains information about how to support your child's learning at home, including the importance of routines.

Key Workers

On 19th March, DfE published guidance for schools, colleges and local authorities on maintaining educational provision.

This makes clear that:

if it is at all possible for children to be at home, then they should be;

➢ if a child needs specialist support, is vulnerable or has a parent who is a critical worker, then educational provision will be available for them;

➢ parents should not rely for childcare upon those who are advised to be in the stringent social distancing category such as grandparents, friends, or family members with underlying conditions;

➢ parents should also do everything they can to ensure children are not mixing socially in a way which can continue to spread the virus. They should observe the same social distancing principles as adults;

Admission Criteria

1. pupils where either parent is a member of NHS frontline staff e.g. doctors and nurses;

2. pupils who have a social worker or are known to the school to be extremely vulnerable;

3. pupils where both parents are on the keyworker list;

4. pupils where one parent is on the key worker list

*There may be a requirement on key worker parents to obtain confirmation from their employer that their specific role is necessary for the continuation of an essential public service. We will let you know if this is required.

Latest Government Guidance ob COVID-19

Main messages

  • if you live alone and you have symptoms of coronavirus illness (COVID-19), however mild, stay at home for 7 days from when your symptoms started. (See ending isolation section below for more information)
  • if you live with others and you or one of them have symptoms of coronavirus, then all household members must stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. The 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in the house became ill
  • it is likely that people living within a household will infect each other or be infected already. Staying at home for 14 days will greatly reduce the overall amount of infection the household could pass on to others in the community
  • for anyone in the household who starts displaying symptoms, they need to stay at home for 7 days from when the symptoms appeared, regardless of what day they are on in the original 14 day isolation period. (See ending isolation section below for more information
  • if you can, move any vulnerable individuals (such as the elderly and those with underlying health conditions) out of your home, to stay with friends or family for the duration of the home isolation period
  • if you cannot move vulnerable people out of your home, stay away from them as much as possible
  • if you have coronavirus symptoms:
    • do not go to a GP surgery, pharmacy or hospital
    • you do not need to contact 111 to tell them you’re staying at home
    • testing for coronavirus is not needed if you’re staying at home
  • plan ahead and ask others for help to ensure that you can successfully stay at home and consider what can be done for vulnerable people in the household
  • ask your employer, friends and family to help you to get the things you need to stay at home
  • wash your hands regularly for 20 seconds, each time using soap and water, or use hand sanitiser
  • if you feel you cannot cope with your symptoms at home, or your condition gets worse, or your symptoms do not get better after 7 days, then use the NHS 111 online coronavirus service. If you do not have internet access, call NHS 111. For a medical emergency dial 999

Letter from the HeadTeacher

               Nursery Places September 2020!

If you have a child born between September 2016 and August 2017, please register NOW for your child to start Anglesey Nursery in September 2020.

Reminder - We are a nut free school!

We have several children who potentially may have serious allergic reactions to nuts.

It is everyone's responsibility to ensure the safety of all of the children in our school.

We therefore remind you that children must not bring chocolates into school, for example, Celebrations and Heroes.

A lot of children like to do this for their birthday, but instead of chocolates, they may bring sweets or lollipops.

Thank you!
